Nostalgia {98/365}

I remember the moment when I decided I wanted to be a photographer. It happened on a beach in York, Maine, during the summer of 2001.  I was down on the beach randomly taking photos of the pre-dawn light when I saw in the distance an ocean kayaker heading into the water.

In the golden light, testament to the upcoming heat and humidity of the day, a lone figure made his way into the waves.  The peace and beauty of the moment captured me.

Shooting on film I didn't have the immediate gratification of seeing the shot again, but I knew I captured a moment that would never happen again - and I was in awe.

I was hooked.

Orignal photo: I have no idea the metadata.  I was an amateur!  It was a Canon 1v body, probably shot at about 180mm.  Obviously, on auto!

Hand photo: Canon 85mm 1.2L - f16 @125th 100iso; medium softbox as background.
